Our History
SOL Environment was founded by Steve Butler in 2010 after a spending his career working as an environmental engineer and consultant, mostly in the heavy industry, oil, gas and power sectors. Wanting to contribute to the low carbon transition, SOL was established with the sole purpose of creating a dedicated sustainability consultancy that would lead the field in the delivery of sustainable buildings, infrastructure and renewable energy. We received our first commission right out of the gate and haven’t looked back. Since 2010 SOL has grown significantly from a one-person operation to a thriving company employing many young and dynamic sustainability graduates and professionals. That growth is set to continue as the world transitions from fossil fuels, and corporates, funders and developers wake up to the urgent need to decarbonise, achieve net zero and confront climate change. At SOL, we hold ourselves to the highest standards. We provide comprehensive technical, regulatory and advisory support to our clients at key stages or throughout the full lifecycle of their projects. We are a key partner from inception, through construction and over a projects entire operational lifetime.
