Industrial and Commercial Compliance and Assurance can be a moving target, with many companies unaware of new developments in environmental regulation and their exposure to potential liabilities. Sol can provide many levels of compliance assurance audits from dedicated subject specific regulatory assessments to broad scope audits that cover all aspects of environmental, health and safety.
Our audits provide both an indication of the compliance of a facility as well as clearly defining the potential liabilities to a company or site and provide clear guidance on how to mitigate or resolve the issue. The implementation of the RO, CRC and ESOS Energy Efficiency Schemes means that more companies than ever are required to register, audit and verify their environmental performance with third parties.
Not only can Sol benchmark your energy performance, we can also provide you with a very high level of technical advice and support in how to reduce your energy consumption and increase the efficiency of your process or organisation.

Energy auditing:
With increasing energy prices and the presence of legislative drivers such as the EU Emissions Trading, CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and ESOS,
businesses are increasingly seeking to identify ways in which to reduce their energy consumption (and
subsequent CO2 emissions) through better energy management practices. Proactive energy management has
direct commercial benefits, with most businesses being able to save between 10-25% of their energy bill through
low or no-cost measures.

EU ETS, CRC & ESOS Compliance
The greenhouse gas Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Regulations came into force in the UK in 2005 as part of a wider EU initiative to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with EU’s Kyoto Protocol reduction target. These requirements have now cascaded down to smaller users through the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) and ESOS regulations.
All of these regulatory regimes require third party auditing, assessmnet and reporting to the government regulator on an annual or semi-annual basis.

RO Biomass Sustainability Auditing
The Renewable Obligation Order requires all sites >1MWe that claim Renewable Obligation Certificates and/or RHI to have an annual independent third party audit to verify the robustness and sustainability of the fuel supply against OFGEM requirements. All audits need to be prepared in accordance with the requirements of ISAE3000 and submitted to OFGEM for approval. Sol are recognised competent verification auditors and carry out this service for a number of clients in the biomass, biogas and waste to energy sectors.
