Sol is committed to effective management of quality, safety, health and the environment (QSHE). To achieve high standards in these fields we operate through the following principles within our company management system:
- Aim to understand the needs and expectations of customers, employees and other interested parties and our obligations to them
- Determine external and internal issues that are relevant to the purpose of our organisation with the potential to cause harm to the environment or human health, or impact on our activities
- Enhance safety, health, environmental and quality performance through continual improvement
- Provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and/or ill health
- Eliminate hazards and reduce health and safety risks
- Protect the natural environment from harm and degradation, including biodiversity and ecosystems
- Prevent pollution from activities, products and services
- Use resources such as energy, fuel, water, chemicals and other materials sustainably
- Enable mitigation of and adaptation for climate change
- Mitigate the potential adverse effect of environmental conditions
- Focus on the customer
MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT
- Establish appropriate objectives, targets and management programmes
- Fulfil compliance obligations including legal requirements and compliance with Sol’s ISO standards
- Consult and engage staff in management and continual improvement
- Enable managers across the business to demonstrate leadership and commitment
- Determine health and safety hazards, significant environmental aspects, conformity of products and services
- and associated risks and opportunities, and take action to address them
- Integrate QSHE into the organisations’ business processes and strategic direction
- Promote use of the process approach; risk-based thinking and evidence-based decision making
- Ensure resources needed are available and that they achieve the intended outcomes
- Communicate the importance of effective management and use of the company management system
- Carry out staff training to ensure competence
- Plan and implement an effective audit programme
- Direct and support staff to contribute to the effectiveness of the company management system
- Take accountability for the effectiveness of the company management system
- Protect workers from reprisals when reporting incidents, hazards, risks and opportunities.
